New Mini Candles and Reed Diffusers Launched this month!
Posted on September 01 2018
This month we are excited to be launching some new fragrances to add to our well loved candles, reed diffusers and beautiful home fragrances.
Our launch of three new mini candles and two new reed diffusers is a further expansion to our already extensive range, all artfully curated to provide wonderful fragrance choices. To Be Calm believe that fragrance can play an integral part in creating an optimal state of mind, transporting oneself to an environment that is optimal for whatever you may be doing.
Retailing at $18 and with a 25-28 hour burn time, each candle is hand-poured into unique artist designed elegant vessels with pure, clean burning, soy wax and infused full of the finest oils from Australia and France - able to fragrance any room and perfect as a thoughtful gift. Long after the candle has gone the mini candle vessel makes for a beautiful container to store small, special treasures.
Each diffuser priced at $58 lasts 3-4 months with 150ml of premium fragrance oils from France and essential oils from Australia. These alcohol-free diffusers have a wonderful fragrance throw and low evaporation rate.
At To Be Calm we have a focus on sustainability and recycling by using materials such as glass and tin for our candle and diffuser vessels. Our products use natural ingredients, premium oils and cotton wicks.
From 1 September 2018 the new range can be purchased online and from our Pasarbella and I12 Katong stores, Tangs Orchard and Vivo, Takashimaya, The Providore Downtown and Metro Centrepoint. To Be Calm will also start retailing from Isetan Department stores in November.
These new fragrances have been a labour of love for Creative Director, Cherylynne Clews, who shares below her inspiration behind the fragrances.
A surprisingly rich yet fresh fragrance. The combination of decadent ripe figs and the freshness of bamboo, mixed with a hint of coconut creates a lovely mellow fragrance, extremely soothing and relaxing.
I wanted to draw on the lovely fragrance achieved with an earlier candle called Beautiful Day which is the fresh, clean fragrance of Green Bamboo, almost sweet in character. We received a lot of great feedback on Beautiful Day so I wanted to explore more fragrances using Bamboo. By adding fig, it changes the profile of the blend to an earthier, deeper fragrance. Fig takes the candle aroma from being light to a well balanced blend of both freshness and subtle sensuality.
Top Notes: Bamboo and Coconut
Middle Notes: Fig
Base Notes: Vetiver and Cedar
An aroma that evokes memories of the beach, delicate yet determinable, capturing the unique fragrance of the dune grasses mixed with the saltiness and freshness of the Sea-air.
The beach has always been the place I feel most at home. Having spent many holidays camping, literally a stones throw away from the Ocean, the fragrance of the beach has been heavily imprinted on my mind.
Running down the beach track and being engulfed by the grasses that stoically hold the dunes in place, my heart would race in anticipation of the vastness of the sea ahead.
Top Notes: Bergamot
Middle Notes: Fir Needle, Sage
Base Notes: Oud, Sea Salt
A long-lasting tropical scent where coconut, florals and deep base notes combine to create that distinct atmosphere and aroma that occurs after a great downpour of rain. A very soothing fragrance.
I love walking outside immediately after the rain, whilst the ground still holds its puddles, breathing deeply, letting the earthy wet air, heavy with fragrance rejuvenate my mind.
So many of us love the fragrance in the air after a downpour, but not many of us know why. Scientists have determined that the post-rain atmosphere is due to some plants secreting oils during dry periods, that when soaked by rain release a myriad of aromas into the air. The second reaction that creates petrichor (a word to describe the odour of rain after a long dry spell) is when chemicals produced by soil-dwelling bacteria known as actinomycetes are released. These aromatic compounds combine to create the pleasant petrichor scent when rain hits the ground.
I have always recognised that fragrance creates memories, and to learn that scientists believe some people have inherited their affection for the scent of rain from their ancestors who relied on rainy weather for their survival, makes our fragrance journey all that more intriguing and rewarding.

Recognising the pleasure that the beach brings to so many people, I wanted to create a fragrance that transports oneself back there. Capturing the lovely freshness of the ocean coupled with the many variants of sea grasses that scatter across the dunes. This fragrance is both soothing and refreshing.

'To delight with fragrance is a dream come true’
Beautiful Medley is the fusion of the most delightful florals & light spices that will evoke wonderful memories of walking in gardens just at dusk when many of the ‘white’ flowers release their fragrance.
A beautiful & unique fragrance sure to be noticed & definitely enjoyed.
